One of CeBIT Australia's new sponsors this year is global global hyper-scale cloud provider OVH, celebrating the first anniversary of opening its APAC regional HQ in Melbourne while exhibiting at Australia's best business tech exhibition.
As I type, CeBIT Australia 2018 has one more day to open — 17 May — at Sydney’s International Convention Centre, and as always is "Asia Pacific’s largest and longest running B2B technology exhibition and conference (is) attracting over 15k technology professionals from enterprise, government, SME and start-up".
OVH has taken the opportunity not only to celebrate its inaugural sponsorship of the event (among a wide range of tech sponsors), but is also "celebrating its one-year anniversary since opening its APAC Regional Headquarters in Melbourne, Victoria".
iTWire has been covering OVH for a while now, with an October 2016 article on OVH setting up shop in Australia, OVH opening its APAC regional HQ in Melbourne last May, OVH finding funding to continue growth last June, OVH explaining how to wisely chose your data centre SSDs and NVMEs in October and a French OVH official explaining in April how harmonising data protection laws is a big task.
{loadposition alex08}So, with data centres in Australia and Singapore, OVH said it is "well and truly delivering on its commitment to consolidate its leadership position in Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) by providing its hyper-scale cloud infrastructure locally".
Lionel Legros, OVH APAC director, said, “CeBIT Australia is a great opportunity for our local team to meet other Australian technology professionals and to introduce OVH and our Cloud solutions to the broader market.
"We look forward to meeting the broad mix of attendees and welcome the opportunity to showcase our solutions and discuss the best options for effective digital transformation.”
If you're planning on visiting CeBIT Australia on its last day on Thursday, you'll find the OVH team located in the Cloud area at booth E25.
As well as presenting local and global business case studies, OVH said its team would "also be showcasing the OVH Control Panel demonstrating how customers can manage their services, order and commission new servers within just a few minutes, and set up private infrastructures across OVH’s 28 data centres".
Additionally, OVH presented a session yesterday titled "Understanding the Different Types of Cloud, at the Innovation Stage".
Christophe Delmas, OVH APAC digital sales manager, explored questions such as:
- Why has the cloud become such a ubiquitous, essential tool for business?
- With so many solutions available, how do you determine what to choose and for what use?
- Learn all about the cloud and how to best utilise it for your business through case studies and infrastructure examples.
The company says it was "deemed a tech ‘unicorn’ last year when its value shot past US$1 billion", and said it is "steadfast about having digital resources as close as possible to the key markets of business activity".
OVH explained that its "APAC presence is allowing it to support its customers and respond to the growing demand for outsourced digital infrastructures. As part of the company’s development strategy, it is working on a continuous plan of investment and development in the Sydney and Singapore datacentres".
For those wondering, OVH reminded us that it has "carried out a series of technical upgrades on its APAC network. These upgrades provide customers with considerable reductions in latency, as well as an improvement in the efficiency of online solutions to, or from, Australia".
At its CeBIT stand, the company has a number of OVH spokespeople on hand to discuss topics such as:
- GDPR: "As a company that is committed to protecting its customers' data, OVH advocates that transparency always needs to be a priority. The company has been at the forefront of interpreting the GDPR for the industry via its involvement with the Cloud Infrastructure Services Providers in Europe (CISPE) – a coalition of cloud computing leaders working directly with the EU to create a Data Protection Code of Conduct to facilitate compliance with the law."
- Data protection strategies: "What Australian businesses can do immediately to kickstart the fulfillment of their data protection responsibilities and effective strategies to ensure compliance to data protection mandates."
- Anti-DDos offering: "OVH offers robust (and bespoke) anti-DDoS protection – that resisted even the recent Memcached attacks. Hear from the world’s 3rd largest Web hosting company about their approach to anti-DDoS protection."
