Data centre operator Equinix has appointed nine-year company veteran Guy Danskine as managing director for Australia.

Danskine, who joined Equinix in 2011, succeeds Jeremy Deutsch, who was appointed president of Equinix Asia-Pacific in July 2019 and was managing director from 2014 until July 2019.

Based in Sydney, Danskine will report to Deutsch who steered Equinix through a period of organic expansions, including the acquisition and integration of Metronode.

Danskine originally joined Equinix as a global account manager in Sydney where he developed strategic relationships with key customers and partners, including cloud service providers, network service providers, systems integrators, as well as some of Australia’s leading financial institutions.

Danskine relocated to Equinix in San Francisco three years after joining the company in Sydney.

Most recently Danskine has served as senior director, strategic alliances, leading a cross-functional team to deepen the company’s partnership with key strategic alliance partners.

Prior to joining Equinix, Danskine led sales and business development for the service provider sector at Geo Networks in London, which was subsequently acquired by Zayo Networks, and prior to Geo, he held key leadership and sales roles at Optus and Hutchison Telecoms.

“Guy has a proven track record of driving business growth and accelerating Equinix’s market leading position, while efficiently leading his team,” said Jeremy Deutsch, President, Equinix Asia-Pacific.

“With his experience managing a global, cross-functional team and growing our strategic partnerships to unlock mutual value, I am confident he will continue to deliver on our commitment in Australia to provide our customers with interconnection solutions that support digital transformation and cloud adoption initiatives,” Deutsche said.

“As Equinix continues to expand, introducing new products and services to customers in Australia, I’m excited to be home and rejoin the team here,” said Danskine.

“Over the past several years we have seen that Australian organisations are very fast adopters of new technologies, and I look forward to helping deliver added value to our customers deploying across Australia and furthering Equinix’s position as the market leader.”
